Welcome to the Iron Paradise: Time To Transform Your Life – Part 2

Dec 30, 2023

By Shawn Ambrosino

Picking up where our last blog left off – we’re discussing what happens when somebody makes the decision to start strength training. Research suggests that everybody – regardless of sex, age or ability should add weight training to their lives. The key to health and longevity has been found – and it’s weight training. Let’s get into this…

Welcome back, Nutrex Fam…

Glad you came around for part 2 – means you learned something from part 1.

If you haven’t read part 1 – you can do so here – go read that if you need to, because I’m going to do the same thing here…

Which is treat you like it’s YOU who have made the decision to start lifting weights.

Now, I know, odds are if you’re reading this – you’ve been lifting for years…

But somebody may be making that life-changing decision today – so, it’s just easier to talk to them where they are.

So, I’m talking to YOU as if that’s where you are.

Let’s get back into it, shall we?

Where were we? Oh yeah… welcome back!

Assuming you’ve survived part one of this short little series and haven’t fled back to the safety of your couch with the other potatoes…

It’s time to talk about sustaining this new – and what I think is an AWESOME lifestyle.

It’s easy to get overwhelmed in the beginning…

There’s a lot to learn – a lot of information being circulated out there – and it’s not easy to know what’s good info and what’s BS.

So, let’s figure out how to stick to this new lifestyle, right?

First and foremost, remember:

The Key To Health And Longevity Has Been Found

Just like with most things in life…

Consistency is key.

The truth is – results take time.

If you’re expecting to get jacked after a month – you’d better prepare for disappointment.

This is about long-term gains – not overnight miracles.

One of the ways to stay consistent and not getting bored is to mix things up a little.

Doing the same routine is like eating the same meal every day – not only is it boring…

But you’re probably missing some key elements.

One way to stay engaged is to keep your muscles guessing and your mind engaged.

And…

If you’re mind’s engaged – and you’re starting to understand what your body likes and needs – then listen to it.

I mean, I get it…

Pushing through pain is pretty effin’ hardcore – but knowing when to take a step back is just using your noodle.

Injuries can set you back months – so play it smart.

And – if you have any questions – do yourself a favor and get connected to the iron community.

Find your tribe…

Whether it’s a gym buddy or an online community, having like-minded iron warriors around keeps you motivated and even more – keeps you accountable.

Advanced Tips for the Seasoned Lifter

Now, after a few months in the gym – you’ll probably be feeling pretty good – and want to take your game up a notch…

Well, let’s look at a few things you can do to level up even faster, shall we?

Periodization: This isn’t just a fancy term to impress your friends…

Periodization is about varying your training intensity and volume to maximize gains and minimize plateaus.

You don’t want to lift heavy all the time…

Nor do you just want to go for reps…

It’s about switching it up and helping your body recover.

Supplementation: While no pill or powder is a substitute for hard work and a good diet…

Supplements like protein powders, creatine, and EAAs can give you an edge.

Most experts agree – protein supplementation is one of the most important things you can do to ensure your gains.

If you want to grow – you’ve got to feed those muscles.

Mind-Muscle Connection: It’s not just about lifting the weights…

It’s about feeling the muscle work.

Focus on the contraction – not just the motion.

This will ensure you’re getting a quality lift and keep your form from throwing you off or getting you injured.

Rest is Important: Yes, you’re a gym rat now – but even rats need sleep.

Quality rest is non-negotiable for recovery and growth.

In fact, it’s important to keep in mind that you don’t grow in the gym…

You grow while you rest – so don’t skip that sleep.

A Lifelong Journey

Remember, much like your overall health – weight training is more than just a hobby – it’s a lifestyle.

It’s about setting goals, crushing them and then setting new ones.

You’ll have days when the last thing you want to do is lift a finger – let alone a dumbbell…

But those are the days that count the most.

So, keep lifting, keep growing and keep enjoying the journey.

Because that’s what it is…

A journey.

Welcome to the club, bud!

We’re happy to have you here.
