Stronger By 2027?

Forget “toning.” Forget the six-pack shortcuts. In 2026, the number one thing people want from the gym is simple: get STRONGER. Here’s what the science says about how to get stronger – and why most people never actually get there. Let’s get into this…

Wait…

The general public wants to get stronger in 2026?

I’ll be honest – I love seeing this…

For years, strength was the goal of guys like me: ex-college athletes whose ego won’t let them go back to being “regular people”

Now? EVERYBODY wants in.

Life Time’s annual trends survey found that 42.3% of people say their number one health goal for 2026 is to get physically stronger.

Not lose weight.

Not run a marathon.

But getting STRONGER.

But here’s the problem…

Wanting it and doing it are two VERY different things.

Here’s how to make sure you end up on the right side of that line.

[The Short Answer – To get stronger, lift two to three times a week with progressively heavier weight, for a total of at least 30-60 minutes of strength work weekly. Eat about 1.6 grams of protein per kilogram of bodyweight daily and take 3-5 grams of creatine. Only about a third of US adults currently lift twice a week – consistency is what separates them from everyone else.]

Everybody Wants It – Few Actually Train For It

Like I said, wanting to get stronger is the easy part…

According to the CDC, only 35.2% of men and 26.9% of women meet the federal guideline of lifting at least twice a week.

That means a LOT of people have the goal…

And a lot fewer have the plan.

That’s a shame – because strength pays you back in a lot more than bigger lifts.

Strength Is a HEALTH Problem – Not Just a Mirror Problem

Here’s the part most strength articles skip: lifting doesn’t just change how you look…

It changes how long you’re around to enjoy it.

The facts:

A 2022 meta-analysis in the British Journal of Sports Medicine pooled 16 studies on strength training and health.

Muscle-strengthening work was linked to a 10-17% lower risk of early death, heart disease, cancer, diabetes and lung cancer.

People who combined lifting with cardio had the lowest risk of all.

The biggest payoff showed up at about 30-60 minutes of strength work per WEEK.

Not per day. Per week.

So “I don’t have time” just ran out of excuses…

That being said, there’s a right way to spend those minutes.

Your Get-Stronger Game Plan

You don’t need a fancy program…

You need a few rules – and the discipline to follow them for months, not weeks.

1. Hit Every Muscle Twice a Week

That’s the federal guideline – and it’s where the research says the payoff starts. Two to three full-body or upper/lower sessions a week will get you there.

2. Build Around the Big Lifts

Squats, deadlifts, bench, overhead press, rows and pull-ups train the most muscle in the least time. Master these before you chase anything fancy.

3. Add a Little Every Week

One more rep. Five more pounds. Strength only grows when the demand grows – that’s progressive overload – and it’s non-negotiable.

4. Leave a Few Reps in the Tank

Grinding to failure every set wrecks your recovery. Stop 1-3 reps shy on most sets and you’ll come back stronger next session. Pick and choose the days you go to failure.

5. Hit Your Protein

A 2018 meta-analysis of 49 trials found protein is the key for gains in both muscle size and strength – with the benefit topping out around 1.6 grams per pound of bodyweight per day. For a 180-lb lifter – that’s roughly 288 grams a day if you want to max it out.

6. Don’t Skip the Creatine

The International Society of Sports Nutrition calls creatine one of the most effective supplements for high-intensity training. 3-5 grams a day raises muscle creatine stores by 20-40% – and it’s one of the most-studied supplements on the planet. Also, you can’t overdose on creatine – if you want more cognitive benefits – 15-25 grams isn’t out of the question.

Stronger By 2027?

Nearly half of people want to get stronger this year…

About a third will actually put in the work.

Do you want to be one of the ones that ends the year stronger than where you started?

You can!

And the difference isn’t genetics. It isn’t talent. It isn’t even time.

It’s showing up – twice a week, every week, long enough to see it.

Remember: strength is EARNED.

I know, I know… all of this is easier said than done.

That’s why we do what we do – because we see it as our job to help you hit your goals… no matter where you’re starting from.

So lift heavy, add a little more each week, fuel the work with protein and keep showing up.

We’ll see you at the top of the 42%.
